Geneology

Burda 8368 -- I bought this wonderful watermelon-colored linen at Curran Fabrics in McLean, VA, and made just a few changes to the pattern.  I added a pleat to the back that is topstitched down at the top for the first three inches, which is a feature I love in my favorite white linen Orvis blouse.  It gives more ease in the top so that the fit is more comfortable and allows air to move up your back for cooling.  I also added a back facing to the neck edge instead of using the binding per the pattern's directions.

Burda 8990 -- I bought this rather heavyweight cotton pique at a fabric shop in New Orleans that I think was on St. Charles Street.  I love the way the project came out and have included a drawing of the pattern so you can see the details better -- awesome pockets.  It's very comfortable.
